he Black Diamond

The Black Diamond
The Unilever Institute of Marketing has done extensive work to equip marketers with the tools to connect with the "emerging black middle class". While it is estimated that only 2 million people fall into this particular sector, it is said to have buying power worth more than R130 billion, and it is this 10% of the black population that accounts for 43% of the total buying power of the black population in South Africa. What is even more astounding is that The Institute expects this sector to grow at a rate of 50% per annum. While economic factors may dampen this growth from time to time, the sector is set to become the country's biggest consumer in just a few short years.
It is for this reason that it's vital to properly understand this sector when developing your marketing strategy. To find out more about The Unilever Institute and the valuable resources they provide, visit http://www.unileverinstitute.co.za/
